Elder Ministry
In accordance with Scripture (1 Timothy 5:17), Emmanuel Baptist Church elders are the administers of the church in order to provide general oversight and direction to fulfill God’s plan for Emmanuel.
Reflecting Jesus… 2 Corinthians 3:18
The elders commit to reflect Jesus in the following ways…
- Preach & teach God’s Word. (Acts 2:42; 4:2; 5:41–42; 6:2; 1 Timothy 5:17)
- Pray together weekly for the church at 8:15am each Sunday morning. (Luke 18:1, 1 Timothy 4:5)
- Protect the church from false teachings and loss of focus. (Titus 1:9)
- Provide and communicate corporate vision from God to the church. (Acts 20:28)
Strengthening families… Mark 5:19–20
The elders commit to strengthen families in the follow ways…
- Provide shepherding and advocacy in all church family-related ministries in order to help build strong biblical households. (1 Peter 5:2–3; John 4:53; Acts 16:33–34)
- Pray for and with those who are sick. (James 5:14; Acts 6:6)
- Seek God’s will and vision for family enrichment events and tools. (1 Peter 5:2–3; I Thessalonians 2:6–12)
- Manage his own family well. (1 Timothy 3:4; I Timothy 5:8)
Serving our community… Ephesians 5:13–16
The elders commit to serve our community in the following ways…
- Oversee, promote and keep all ministries accountable to serve the community. (Hebrews 13:7)
- Contact all guests who attend Bible studies and church worship services. (Titus 1:8)
- Be visible and known as a positive example in our community. (1 Timothy 3:7)
- Plan community events that will bridge the unchurched to Jesus and Emmanuel. (1 Corinthians 9:22–23)
